On Thursday, January 16, Kyiv’s «Dynamo» held another friendly match during their mid-season training camp in Turkey. This time, the team led by Alexander Shovkovsky faced Slovenian «Maribor» from the city of the same name.

Both teams started this match at a moderate pace, which almost excluded sharpness in the game. In the first part of the first half, only one episode stands out when in the 13th minute Karavaev's cross from the right flank was met by Bragaru who shot from close range, but the «Maribor» goalkeeper saved his team with a leg block.
However, in the second part of the first half, the situation heated up. Just on the 25th minute, «Dynamo» should have opened the scoring, but Yarmolenko missed a penalty awarded for a foul on Pikhalenok: the «Maribor» goalkeeper managed to save the shot from the spot. Immediately after that, «Maribor» countered dangerously — Mbina broke through one-on-one with Morgun, but squandered that excellent opportunity to score by shooting over the goal from the penalty area line.
Then came two goals from «Dynamo». First, in the 31st minute, Guerrero, receiving a pass from Dubinchak from the flank near the goalkeeper's area, sent the ball into the upper near corner of the «Maribor» goal with a shot from a sharp angle — a beautiful goal, making the score 1:0. Then, five minutes later, a short combination by the Dynamo players on the left flank penetrating into the penalty area ended with a shot by Bragaru from about 14 meters, and the ball flew into the far corner of the «Maribor» goal — 2:0.
At halftime, «Maribor» completely updated their lineup (while «Dynamo» made only two substitutions), which brought its results: in the second half, the field saw a generally equal battle. However, this struggle clearly lacked goal-scoring situations. There were shots, there were half-chances, but neither «Dynamo» nor «Maribor» had real opportunities to change the score. Most of the Kyivans' actions were penetrating attacks into the opponent's penalty area, while the Slovenes had some decent shots from medium distances.
As a result, in the second half, essentially only one goal-scoring moment arose: in the 81st minute, Dubinchak crossed from the left flank, Karavaev headed the ball unchallenged from close range but missed the target. Not long before the final whistle, «Maribor» managed to carry out a sharp combination, which Shirvis finished with a shot from about 7 meters, but Ignatenko, demonstrating excellent reactions, managed to deflect the ball. Consequently, the match ended with a victory for «Dynamo» with a score of 2:0.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that today «Dynamo» has another friendly match planned — against the Bulgarian «CSKA 1948». The start of this sparring match is at 16:00 Kyiv time.
