Defender Maxim Melnychuk spoke about the relationship with Ingulec coach Vasily Kobin.
Maxim Melnychuk— It all started when the coaching staff was changed. It was immediately clear that something was wrong. You know how Kobin works. In every team, he removes a couple of people who have been there the longest. That’s what happened with us. From the very beginning, it was obvious that he was looking for something to dig into. Why was Seryozha Panasenko removed, Yarik Bohunov? Gradually at first, and then he decided to suspend five people at once.
There was no conflict. We were generally trying… Well, Kozak communicated with him every day and explained what the rules were here, what needed to be done in this club, how to talk to the president. They communicated every day, and it turned out that Kozak was also removed.
Kobin said that he wouldn’t change anything and would keep everything as it was under Vladislav Lupashko, that he liked this football. But it turned out that changes started immediately. He didn’t like it, and he said: “Well, that’s it, we won't play around anymore. We’re kicking the ball forward.” We did what we were told and did not disagree. Sometimes we could say that we were not satisfied. If there’s a passing option, then why kick?
There was some tension in the team. No conversations, nothing. It was intuitively felt that he didn’t like something about us. We wanted to talk. We approached many times to find out. It never worked out. There were always some excuses. He said: “This is my decision. I made it. I can’t help you with anything. Talk to the president…” — Maxim said.
