The head coach of Poltava’s “Vorskla” Yuri Maximov commented on the transfer of defender Ilya Krupsky to “Metalist 1925”.
“The final decision was made by Ilya. We had two offers: from “Shakhtar” and “Metalist 1925”. Both clubs offered the same amount. There was also an invitation from an American club. Krupsky came to me for advice.
Regarding the USA, I expressed concerns that moving there could negatively impact his prospects in the Ukrainian national team. His main desire was to have playing time. Based on this, Ilya made his decision. By the way, if he had transferred to “Shakhtar”, he would also have remained with “Vorskla” on loan.
For me as a coach, it is good now that there is certainty, and I can rely on Krupsky, who will help us in difficult times. He is a product of “Vorskla”. I remember when I released him as a 17-year-old in a match against “Dynamo”. I am very glad that he is progressing,” said Maximov.
