The former head coach of Kyiv's “Dynamo”, Mircea Lucescu, who currently leads the Romanian national team, underwent surgery on his right hip due to coxarthrosis today.
Mircea LucescuRecall that the 79-year-old specialist underwent a similar operation on his left hip in 2023. At that time, Lucescu was leading “Dynamo” and he was operated on in one of the Kyiv clinics.
Recently, Romanian media reported information that for the surgery on his right hip, the coach planned to go to the same Kyiv clinic, but then Lucescu abandoned that idea.
As a result, Lucescu was operated on in Bucharest at the “Ponderas” university hospital. The operation lasted two hours and was successful. The coach is currently in intensive care, but it is expected that he will leave the hospital in 4–5 days and will be able to walk, albeit initially with the help of crutches.
