Polish referees Bartosz Frankowski and Tomasz Musiał served a five-month suspension for an incredible story that they got into when they were assigned as VAR referees for the August match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Champions League between Kyiv’s “Dynamo” and Scotland's “Rangers” (1:1) in Lublin.

As a reminder, on the night before this match, they had a bender. At some point, the drunks left the hotel. While strolling through the streets of Lublin, the referees stole a road sign, after which they were arrested by the police.
The Polish Football Association imposed a 90-day ban on the involvement of Frankowski and Musiał in matches. Later, they were suspended for a year with the possibility of returning after five months. In addition, both were fined and banned from Eurocup matches until June 2025.
And now, the five-month penalty period has expired, and both referees are allowed to work. Frankowski confirmed that he would officiate today's match of the 19th round of the Polish championship between “Jagiellonia” and “Radomiak.” At the same time, the referee made a short statement regarding the notorious incident.
“I know that no mistake can be forgiven if a person has not understood it and has not drawn conclusions. So, I have decided to completely give up alcohol. That fateful night in Lublin, I drank alcohol for the last time,” Frankowski said in a comment to Meczyki
