Former Dynamo goalkeeper Volodymyr Tsytkyn shared his impressions of the performance of leading domestic clubs on the international stage.

“In my opinion, Shakhtar performed poorly in the most prestigious UEFA Champions League, and Dynamo did not avoid failure in the Europa League. Even the only victory of the Kyiv team in the final round against RFSh was more accidental. Everything was heading towards a draw, but Oleksandr Pikhalyonok was helped by a ricochet.
Unfortunately, without Vitaliy Buyalskyi and Mykola Shaparenko, the Dynamo game left a sad impression, lacking creativity and sharp plays. The helplessness of our defenders is a separate story. However, it should be noted that during the short training camp in January, the coaches of Shakhtar and Dynamo managed to improve the physical condition of their players, and in the last matches, there were no fluctuations in the performance of their charges.
Victories in the final stretch against Brest and RFSh, respectively, should boost Shakhtar and Dynamo’s confidence, which should serve them well in the second half of the Ukrainian championship and the Ukrainian Cup draw. Although it is often said: one in the field is not a warrior, I think that the departure of forward Danilo Sikan will hinder Shakhtar from catching up with Dynamo.
The Kyiv team does not demonstrate a championship game, but they should have enough points cushion to become the strongest team in Ukraine again,” said Tsytkyn.
