The publication «Il Romanista» has published an article dedicated to the Ukrainian forward of «Roma» Artem Dovbik, in which it suggested that he may be sold by the summer.
«Artem Dovbik has become the most expensive acquisition of „Roma“ in the summer market, but his performance is disappointing. The hypothesis of his sale is not excluded.
He was supposed to be the jewel of „Roma“. The 27-year-old Ukrainian forward, the top scorer in La Liga, bought for 36 million euros plus 4 million in bonuses from „Girona“, has still not lived up to the club and fans' expectations.
With 12 goals scored, Dovbik has often seemed like a fish out of water, almost a foreign body compared to the rest of the team. Even the “medicine” in the form of Ranieri, which revitalized „Roma“, could not raise Dovbik’s performance level.
Slow, awkward, almost out of the game, the Ukrainian forward nevertheless stated that he looks optimistically at the second half of the season. In a recent interview with the newspaper „Il Messaggero“, Dovbik shared that he feels increasingly comfortable within the team's mechanisms.
However, so far his contribution to the game and results of „Roma“ has been disappointingly modest. For this reason, the hypothesis of his sensational departure from Dovbik in June next year cannot be excluded a priori.
However, as of today, it is hard to imagine that someone could join „Roma“ for the same amount that the club spent on the Ukrainian. The management of the Romans will have to settle for much less.
Is there anyone in Italy who might be interested in a forward with Dovbik's characteristics for next season? Almost certainly yes, but only for an investment of no more than 25−30 million euros.
Among the clubs potentially vying for the purchase of the Ukrainian forward, undoubtedly, there’s „Napoli“. Next summer, the Neapolitans will have to cash in on the guaranteed sale of Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at „Galatasaray“.
For the Nigerian scorer, the president of „Napoli“ De Laurentiis hopes to earn no less than 75−80 million euros, and part of this amount could be reinvested in Dovbik. With the team qualifying for the Champions League, there arises a necessity to expand the squad, meaning strengthening Romelu Lukaku's flank with another top-class center forward. For now, this is just an idea, but soon it might turn into something else,» — the publication writes.
