Well-known commentator Ihor Tsyhanyk explained why Croatian forward Davor Šuker could not continue his career in Ukraine.
"In August 1999, information appeared that Davor Šuker wanted to move to Kyiv’s Dynamo. He officially announced that he was leaving Madrid’s Real as a free agent and would not be against moving to Dynamo.
But Lobanovskyi looked at Shuker’s statistics, at what he does on the football field, and said: "We don’t need such a forward. We need Shaцьkih better,” said Tsyhanyk on the air of his author’s YouTube channel.
As a result, Uzbek forward Maksym Shatskikh became a true legend of Dynamo and still holds the record for the number of goals in the UPL. He spent 10 years at the Kyiv club as a player (1999−2009) and 3 years working as a coach in the "white-blue" camp (2016−2019).
