Famous football expert Alexander Sopko commented on the transfer from Donetsk “Shakhtar” to Turkish “Trabzonspor” of Daniil Sikan and Alexander Zubkov.
“For ‘Shakhtar’, the plus is that those who can potentially leave for the Turkish championship — in this case Kryskiv and Bondarenko — they have not and will no longer become the mainstay and support in the development of the team. Some lack character, some have too high ambitions and want to be, let’s say, the primadonna. Someone has lost motivation, while someone simply lacks the skill to pull “Shakhtar” up due to their individual qualities.
Therefore, we need to rely on other, foundation players who will elevate the team to a completely different, higher level. Currently, the team lacks such fighters. The last of them was Stepanenko, but due to age, the possibilities were no longer the same.
So, I believe that “Shakhtar” has successfully sold their players to Turkey; they are at an age where they can still play for the national team through the Turkish championship. And they can use this challenge as a springboard to enter a more serious championship.
But if they don't succeed, then talks about our players being worth millions, billions, and so on — they are all empty, an illusion. A lot has been said about them, and now we will see what they are really worth,” said Sopko.
