Ukrainian coach Petro Kushlyk recalled his communication with the legendary Kyiv Dynamo coach Valerii Lobanovskyi.

“In 1991, I was at a training session with Lobanovskyi, in practice. Valerii Vasylovych respected me because I recommended Luhany to Kyiv Dynamo first, and then Mykhailyk. Loban said: “Petro, there will always be a place for you here.”
I was guided by Lobanovskyi’s ideas. During my internship, Puzach (Anatolii Puzach — former football player and coach of Dynamo, died in 2006, — ed.) gave me two notebooks with Lobanovskyi’s notes. I secretly copied the notes at night for almost three weeks to catch up while they were still in his hands.
There were a total of 200 notes. He had two large notebooks with 100 notes each. Tactics, theory, and all that. In Vydziv and in Lithuania, such ideas helped me. My teams ran for all 90 minutes and even continued to press at the end of the match. I would like to work as a coach again, but sadly, everyone looks at the passport,” — quotes Kushlyk “Ukrainian Football”.
