The head coach of «Alexandria» Ruslan Rotan commented on his team’s defeat against Donetsk «Shakhtar» (0:3) in today’s match of the 19th round of the Ukrainian championship.
“Until the 60th minute, it seems to me that «Shakhtar» didn’t make a single shot on our goal, everything was, in principle, under control. Probably, it all started with some mistake from our side when we had the ball, but we “gifted” them the first goal. After that, we started to get nervous and conceded illogical goals for us.
But I’m satisfied with the guys. In principle, we managed everything today. I believe the result doesn’t reflect the game; we didn’t deserve such a defeat. So it’s not a big deal; we will be stronger after such defeats.
This game is definitely a plus for us; even with such a score, there was a lot of positivity. We played very compactly and didn’t allow «Shakhtar» to create many chances — that’s a big plus. But regarding our attacking play — I would like to see more aggression.
We played against the champion and I believe we played on equal terms. As for losing... I think this match will only teach us to be better.
Three conceded goals? There are no games without mistakes in football. We had problems with balance. A usual clearance from the goal, a recovery, and we weren’t ready to get back. There’s a lot to work on, but I don’t see problems in this: all of this can be resolved through team interactions and in training. We will fix all of this,” said Rotan in the broadcast on the YouTube channel «UPL TV».
