The head coach of Kryvyi Rih’s Kryvbas Yuriy Vernydub commented on his team’s defeat from Inhulets (0:2) in yesterday’s match of the 19th round of the Ukrainian championship and talked about the mood for the upcoming match against Donetsk’s Shakhtar in the next round of the league.
«We lost for the second consecutive match (in the previous round Kryvbas was defeated by Veres, 0:3, — ed. note). We lost to an opponent against whom we should have taken our "points" and move forward. But so far we can't do this for the second time this year. With such play, attitude, and realization, it’s hard to comment on anything. The most important thing now is to endure.
We have returned, it seems, to the beginning of the 2022/23 season. We have what we have. No one is giving up, we will continue to train and play. If the guys don’t understand that they need to play the whole match as they played in the second half, then it’s hard for me to convey anything to them. Some players, going onto the field, think they are going out not to play, but to have fun. Well, here we are, had our fun.
How can we want to score if our striker can’t score from three meters? He has chances, yet we still can’t score. It’s hard to comment on this. It happens in football. Ahead is a game against Shakhtar. We will prepare and play to look worthy. And not just to play, but to take points, because there have been enough unsuccessful results.
It’s very disappointing what I see today as a coach. This is my defeat first and foremost. But the players should also take some responsibility and approach training and matches with even more responsibility. I understand, they didn’t perform yesterday, today. But we are in the same conditions, even in better ones. Inhulets has traveled home and then returned. But they have achieved their goal. They need these points for survival. I see that if we want to return to the level that we had last year, I currently don’t see chances to return. It’s very hard,» said Vernydub.
