The ex-goalkeeper of Lisbon’s Benfica, Arthur Moraes, shared his thoughts on the fact that Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin from his former team missed the last two matches of the "Eagles".
“In my opinion, based on my experience, as I went through a similar situation, this training time allowed me to recover physically and mentally. Given the number of games that Benfica had, it would be difficult for the goalkeeper to find time for training.
Trubin has everything he needs to come back better, renewed and with a clear head, without emotional stress from matches every three days. I believe that everything will be fine, I believe that Benfica and Bruno Lage (the head coach of Benfica — ed. note) made the right decision to recover mentally and physically, which will now allow the team to give their all in important matches.
I do not believe that the decision regarding Trubin’s break is related to any failure. Unlike most outfield players, goalkeepers systematically play match after match, and it is difficult for them to disconnect from the game. Right now, there are too many matches. And they understood that this is important, even for greater competitiveness with another goalkeeper. The team benefits from this, Benfica now has two goalkeepers who are ready to play,” Moraes’ words are quoted by the telegram channel “VZBIRNA”, referencing the Portuguese publication “A Bola”.
