He was 47 years old and played for «Partizan» twice — from 1998 to 2003 and from 2010 to 2013. During that time, he won five championship titles and two Cups. He also played once for the Serbian national team — against Macedonia in a friendly match on February 6, 2008 (1:1).

After retiring, Ilić began coaching, being part of the staff of the Serbian national team when it was led by Slavoljub Muslin, and he was the goalkeeper coach of «Partizan» for a period.
