Luhansk Zaria defender Roman Vantukh shared his impressions of his team's match against Kyiv Dynamo (2:2) in the 21st round of the Ukrainian championship.
«I can’t say that we were betting on a quick goal. In our meeting, our coach Mladen Bartulović asked us to meet the Dynamo players high from the first minutes, complicate their ball control, and, most importantly, not to be afraid of the opponent. I believe we succeeded in that. It also gave us confidence that we scored twice at the beginning.
By the way, if we had brought the score to 3:1 before the break, and we had the opportunities to do so, then, in my opinion, we wouldn’t have missed our chance. After all, a draw against the league leader is a positive result for Zaria. Especially since we had serious personnel issues because the Dynamo players who are on loan to Zaria were prohibited from playing.
Apparently, Bartulović remembered that at one time I had to play on the left flank of the midfield, and I played in that position, not in defense. I think I didn’t let him down.
Who was closer to victory? Towards the end of the match, there were some good opportunities for productive finishes for both the hosts and the guests. Since there were problems with accuracy, the draw should be recognized as fair,” Vantukh said.
