The head coach of Kharkiv’s "Metalist 1925" Patrick van Leeuwen shared on the YouTube channel "PROFUTBOL Digital" why there was no place for former Kyiv "Dynamo" midfielder Denis Garmash in his team.

— Why did the star footballer Denis Garmash leave your team?
— The reason is quite specific. I had a choice for the playing positions. I chose other players. A player like Garmash, with the career he had… I think we can speak honestly and openly about this. He needed to either accept everything as it is or go in another direction.
— Was he too slow for your team?
— I don’t want to go into too much detail. In the style in which I built my team's game, I didn’t see positions for Garmash. I had other players, a different choice. And from the very beginning, I was open with him and made that clear.
Garmash is not slow. He had an excellent career. He did a lot for Ukrainian football, "Dynamo," and the Ukrainian national team. However, I had my own opinion, and it’s normal for someone to think differently. He is not the first player in my career about whom such a discussion arises. It’s important to be open and sincere about the type of football you want to play.
