Today, March 20th, in just a few hours, the rights of FC "Mariupol" will be transferred to the new management.
Thus, "Phoenix" Podmonastyr will make a spectacular leap from amateurs to the First League of the Ukrainian championship. Moreover, until the end of the current season in the First League, the club will perform under the brand — "Mariupol". The new management will repay all club debts, as well as pay off part of the arrears to the players.
According to information from UA-Football, it is a matter of closing at least 30% of the salary amount owed to them by "Mariupol".
The head coach, still of "Phoenix", but soon to be of "Mariupol", Maksym Feshchuk, is actively working on forming the squad, as the first game against "Prykarpattia" awaits him on the 30th. The "Phoenix-Mariupol" tandem has taken steps to postpone the first-round match of the First League group to the relegation zone, but they were unable to do so. After the merger, the new club will be based in Lviv.
In Feshchuk's "interests" are a number of free agents with experience in the UPL. The coach is trying to assemble a team that will help him stay in the First League for next season. The task is quite achievable, as the team is currently in second place in its group, has 18 points in its account, while, for instance, the 16th "Kremni" has half as many points.
