Famous journalist Mykola Nesenyuk, following the results of yesterday’s Nations League playoff match for the right to compete in Division “A” of this tournament Ukraine — Belgium (3:1), highlighted midfielder of the Ukrainian national team Viktor Tsygankov from the Spanish “Girona”.
“In the game Ukraine — Belgium, one of the most useful players of our team was undoubtedly Viktor Tsygankov, who created danger in attack, made unconventional decisions, and successfully interacted with his teammates. His actions on the field, in my opinion, gave the Ukrainians chances against an obviously stronger opponent.
There’s nothing surprising about this — Vitya was and remains one of the best, if not the best, Ukrainian footballer of his generation. Yes, he is not Messi and not Ronaldo, but for our football, he is a true star. Despite this, we do not hear or see him being actively “promoted”, unlike other Ukrainian footballers, which is something we have already learned to do well. Tsygankov's last name does not pop up in every news, does not resound from every source. And it’s not because he is a less bright player than other compatriots, but because Vitya does not need to be “sold” as a football genius, artificially inflating his price to one hundred and fifty million.
Due to certain circumstances, the main one being increased injury susceptibility, Tsygankov cannot compete equally for a place in one of the European super clubs. And in the national team, he is far from always a regular. But when he manages to achieve his best condition, watching him play is a true delight.
Perhaps now he will finally take the well-deserved place as one of the leaders of the Ukrainian team and have the opportunity not only to help achieve results but also to show truly high-class football for all our delight.
Good luck to you, Vitya!”, — wrote Nesenyuk on his Facebook page.
