Journalist Serhiy Tyshchenko commented on the criticism directed at the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov, after the defeat to the Belgium national team (0:3) in the return match of the Nations League playoffs for the right to participate in Division “A”. Recall that the first meeting of the opponents ended with a victory for the Ukrainian national team, 3:1.

“There is a lot of hate directed at Serhiy Rebrov and his staff right now. After the game in Murcia, he was carried on hands, and after Genk, they wrote him off as a gym teacher. No one is removing the responsibility from the coach. But we also need to talk about the players.

I believe that the current composition of the Ukrainian national team is one of the weakest in its entire existence. In fact, Rebrov had 12-14 players he could rely on. I don’t remember the last time two players from the UPL who do not play for "Dynamo" and "Shakhtar" started on the field for the national team.

If we realistically consider Rebrov has only four reliable players — Trubin/Lunin (Andriy can have his mistakes), Mykolenko (plays consistently in the EPL), Zabarnyi (constantly plays in the EPL), and Dovbyk (scored in “Girona”, scores in “Roma”). Perhaps we can add Matvienko to this list. All others are problematic, unstable, and have some personal issues. Some do not play for their clubs (Konoplia, Yaremchuk, Zinchenko), are unstable (Sudakov, Vanat, Brazhko), prone to injuries (Tsigankov), cannot play every three days (Kalyuzhny), have passed their peak (Malynovskyi, Svatok), plus the situation with Mudryk, and so on.

We were told about the strongest generation of players in the Ukrainian national team. But the reality turned out to be the opposite. Therefore, we definitely should not fly in the skies and demand aesthetics of play or great results from the national team. We can indeed deliver strong matches, but overall we need to rely on rationality,” wrote Tyshchenko on his Telegram channel.
