Former striker of Kyiv’s "Dynamo" and Odesa’s "Chornomorets" Oleksandr Kosyryn shared his impressions after the return match of the Nations League playoff between the national teams of Belgium and Ukraine in Genk (3:0).

— In football life, everything changes very quickly. Just a few days ago, after the victory in Murcia over the Belgians (3:1), everyone was ready to carry the head coach of the Ukrainian national team, Serhiy Rebrov, his assistants, and players on their hands. However, as soon as we suffered a crushing defeat in the return match, it seems that the flight of critical arrows cannot be stopped.
I agree, in Genk the approach to maintain the winning score did not work, and everyone is to blame: the coaches who made mistakes in choosing tactics, the players who could not perform due to circumstances, and so we had to forget about the elite division of the Nations League.
On the other hand, we must find the positive in failures. It is precisely in this game period that the treacherous period of a generational change in the national team has ended, and it is encouraging that after the departure of veterans, the main team remains a viable unit.
I would like to emphasize two more points: the competition for a place in the starting lineup has noticeably intensified, and look at how the "geography" of domestic clubs with representatives in the national team has expanded. This indicates that Ukraine remains a forge of football talents; we just need to be more active in searching for them.
I am convinced that there will soon be work on errors in the national team, and in the autumn qualifying cycle of the World Cup, it will make everyone take them into account," said Kosyryn.
