The head coach of the Romanian national team, Mircea Lucescu, was very dissatisfied with the team’s performance in the match against San Marino (5:1) in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

— After the match, I criticized my players quite harshly. For 60 minutes, they played as I wanted, and the opponents could not get past our midfield. But after the 60th minute, although we scored three goals, they were not the result of well-planned play, but rather individual efforts.
In several moments, they overdid it with one-touch play. I cannot tolerate such things! I have a different understanding of football, and the players need to take that into account. They did not do that, which angered me, — said Lucescu at the press conference.
