"Arsenal" has announced the appointment of Andrea Berta as the club’s sports director.
The 53-year-old Italian spent 12 years at "Atletico" before leaving the club in January, and he will now replace Edu at the London club.
Edu left in November, and Jason Aito temporarily took over his duties. Before working at "Atletico," Berta also worked at the Italian clubs "Parma" and "Genoa," and in 2013 he became the technical director of the Madrid club. During this time, the team under Diego Simeone won two championship titles in Spain, the Copa del Rey, the Europa League, and also the UEFA Super Cup.
— I am happy to join "Arsenal" at such an exciting time for the club, — commented Berta. — I have been following "Arsenal" with great interest in recent years and admire the wonderful work they are doing to return to being one of the strongest teams in Europe.
