"First of all, I would like to once again thank the regional football associations and the UAF Executive Committee for nominating me as a candidate for the UEFA Executive Committee.

I am also grateful to our team for these two months of campaigning, and to the national associations for the opportunity to meet personally or communicate with almost everyone. I received a lot of support from colleagues in the fight for a place in the Executive Committee.

Throughout my life and career, I am guided by the main principle - sportsmanship. I am used to fighting honestly, openly and transparently. I am from football and I am about football.

However, unfortunately, in recent days we have received certain signals that, due to political aspects, Ukraine and I personally are not wanted in the UEFA governing body. This was confirmed by further events at the Congress itself.

In this regard, I sincerely thank those national associations that voted for me and for Ukraine. This was not just a vote for me as a candidate, but also for our entire country.

We will not change our position and will continue the reforms in our football. We will also continue to lead international communication in the interests of our state and the football community," stated Andriy Shevchenko.
