The renowned German defender Mats Hummels, who currently plays for Roma, has announced that he will retire from professional football at the end of this season.
“Right now I am struggling with my emotions. This is the moment that no footballer can avoid. After more than 18 years with many things that football has given me, I am ending my career this summer,” said Hummels.
It is worth noting that Hummels spent the majority of his career at Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The defender has been a German champion five times. In the national team of Germany, Hummels played 78 matches, becoming world champion in 2014.
