Defender of Kyiv’s Dynamo Taras Mihavko commented on his team’s victory over Kryvyi Rih’s "Kryvbas" (2:0) in yesterday’s match of the 24th round of the Ukrainian championship during a broadcast on the YouTube channel "UPL TV".
— When we were coming here, we knew it would be a tough game. Even with a score of 1:0, we understood that the second half would be a completely different game — "Kryvbas" would apply pressure, and the fans would be pushing them on. We prepared for this and knew it would be like that.
And, of course, the red card in our squad affected us. It’s not pleasant, but it happens to everyone; such moments exist in football. We didn’t relax, but on the contrary — we encouraged each other to make fewer of those mistakes and were determined to hold on to the result.
It turned out that we managed to score the second goal. Of course, it’s nice that we won, so everyone is very happy. There are no words, just emotions.
— How did you try to adjust after the red card? What changes did Shovkovskyi attempt to make to the game?
— After Denis (Popov, — ed. note) was sent off, we immediately made a substitution, Christian (Bilovar, — ed. note) came on, because we needed to close the central defender position.
The instruction for this segment of the match was, you could say, to play defensively. Therefore, we played with two holding midfielders and waited for our moment on counterattacks.
— But at the same time, the number of chances in front of "Dynamo" increased. Was it difficult to contain "Kryvbas"?
— Of course, it was difficult because "Kryvbas" is a good team that has performed in European competitions this season. Moreover, they were playing at home, and we knew it was a good team and it would be a good match. So it’s nice to beat them.
— You are currently in one boot. Why?
— I slightly twisted my ankle at the end of the match — I stepped awkwardly and twisted it. I took off my boot so my foot wouldn’t get numb.
— But everything is okay?
— Yes.
