Obolon defender Petro Stasiuk commented on the match against Dynamo in the 25th round of the Ukrainian championship.
— An unsuccessful match for "Obolon"— a defeat against "Dynamo" in the Kyiv derby. How do you assess the team’s performance?
— I wouldn’t say that it was an unsuccessful match. In terms of the result — yes, it was an unsuccessful match. But in terms of play, I believe that "Obolon" showed quite a respectable game today.
— In the first half, "Obolon" played quite disciplinarily against "Dynamo." What allowed the team to maintain this stability and withstand the pressing?
— Discipline is what the head coach demands from us. In every game, he demands discipline. With an opponent like "Dynamo," you won’t be able to score any points without discipline.
— The first goal "Obolon" conceded from a free kick. Did such a set piece catch you by surprise?
— Well, as you saw, it did catch us by surprise. We didn’t cope with that setup, but we knew that they could play it this way. It’s probably a matter of concentration. Just concentration.
— After that goal, did you feel that it was still possible to return to the game?
— It didn’t feel like it would be hard to equalize. The first half was going well for us, and we had a few very good chances and could have opened the scoring and even doubled it.
— In the previous match against "Chornomorets," there were many missed opportunities, and a similar situation was in the match against "Dynamo." Is finishing— the vulnerable spot for "Obolon" right now?
— Well, probably. We create quite a lot of chances, but our finishing lets us down.
— Two emotional moments arose during the game— initially, Vladislav Vanat said something to Denys Marchenko after scoring a penalty, and later Taras Mykhavko addressed Denys Teslyuk. Do you know what could have caused this?
— I don’t know the reasons for these incidents. Probably, it’s emotions, football. I don’t think there are any claims off the pitch.
— "Obolon" will play its next match against "Karpaty." Are you already starting to think about this game or still living in the memories of the match against "Dynamo"?
— We already have to think about "Karpaty," because we need to earn points to get out of the situation we are in.
