Goalkeeper of Chernivtsi “Bukovyna”, Danylo Kanevtsiv, spoke about what he expects from his team’s match against Kyiv’s “Dynamo” in the 1/2 final of the Ukrainian Cup, which will take place this Wednesday in Lviv.
“Yesterday (on Sunday, — ed.) the team had a day off, and today we trained well after such a bright holiday — Easter, and the weather can’t help but please. Everyone’s mood is very good! It’s always nice to play against such strong teams as Kyiv’s “Dynamo”, and we are setting ourselves up for a positive. Yes, we were upset by the result of the previous match against “Poltava”, where we drew (1:1) at home, but now we need to forget about that game and think only about the upcoming meeting with “Dynamo”.
We are preparing for this confrontation in the usual way. Of course, the upcoming opponent is a grand of Ukrainian football, but we shouldn’t focus on that, because it can lead to “burnout”. The preparation is going according to plan, everything as usual.
“Bukovyna” must play its football. We will try to stand up to the “Dynamo” players and look good against such an opponent. “Dynamo” is probably currently the strongest team in Ukraine. They confidently lead the championship and aim to win the Cup. It’s a top club with many renowned footballers in its squad. But we are not afraid of anything. We understand what opponent we will face, but there’s no need to worry — we just need to go on the field and demonstrate our best qualities.
Psychology comes to the forefront here. If you are not psychologically ready for the match, then it will be difficult to demonstrate your best qualities, your best game.
Personally, I would like to highlight Andrii Yarmolenko from the “Dynamo” squad. He is an experienced player, a star of domestic football, who has played in European clubs, has had many matches with the Ukrainian national team, and is now the leader of the “white-blue” team. He has an incredible left foot!
It is very disappointing that we will not be able to play a historic semifinal match of the Ukrainian Cup at our home stadium. The support of Chernivtsi fans in the stands is fantastic! In our city, there would be a real football holiday on Wednesday. It’s sad that we won’t play at the “Bukovyna” stadium, but I hope that our fans will come to Lviv and support us. Chernivtsi residents, we really hope for your passionate support! Together we are strong!” said Kanevtsiv.
