The legendary defender of Kyiv’s “Dynamo” and the Ukrainian national team will release an autobiographical book “No Compromises. The Honest Story of Our Football”.
The book was written by Oleg Luzhny in collaboration with journalist and football commentator Roman Bebekh.
“The story of the Champions League semi-final, friendship with Henry, participation in the Maidan, training with Lobanovskyi, Wenger’s approaches, the Surkis family’s politics, sports-political struggles, and many insights from Ukrainian football,” it states in the book’s annotation.
The preface of the publication was written by French football player and coach Thierry Henry, with opinions from Arsene Wenger, Andriy Shevchenko, Patrick Vieira, Vitaliy Kvartsyanyi, Yozhef Sabo, and fans of “Dynamo”.
“In this book, Oleg shares the experience he gained throughout his long and successful career. His advice was valuable to me, so I believe they will be useful to you,” said Henry.
“This is an honest story about our football, the backstage of which you have never heard about the previous generation of players. Those who, without Instagram, managed to be real stars. Who reached the semi-finals of the Champions League but almost never gave interviews. In this book, I have two favorite episodes. The first is when Gordon and Sabo brought a fortuneteller to the “Dynamo” base to help the team in the European cups. And the second is how Arsenal player Parlour, knowing he would greet the club’s vice-president, greased his hand with substance to poke fun at the manager. Overall— there are plenty of insights that have stood the test of time!,” said Bebekh.
The book is already available for pre-order on the publisher’s website — stretovych.com.ua
