Former goalkeeper of “Dynamo” Denis Boyko spoke about his decision to end his professional career.
“For me, there was no tragedy, it wasn’t hard for me. After the injury at 35 years old — a rupture of the cruciate ligament — I recovered for about 8-10 months. My contract with Dynamo ended, we did not extend it. There were many reasons for not extending it, but I clearly understood that there were goalkeepers at Dynamo. I won’t say that they were stronger than me, but their prospects were greater.
And I still wanted to play. The only thing I could do at that moment, if we had extended the contract with “Dynamo”, was to provide this team with competition specifically for the goalkeeper position, where those guys who were in the team at that time would grow, and to support internal communication in the collective, to talk with young footballers.
We decided not to extend the contract, and I moved to “Polissya”. I moved there, to be honest, not fully recovered, because my knee did not allow me to play at 100%...”, — quotes Boyko the Telegram channel FootballHub with reference to the Youtube channel of the former goalkeeper.
