The General Director of Shakhtar, Serhiy Palkin, commented on the club’s decision to fire Marino Pushych from the position of head coach.
Dario Srna and Serhiy Palkin“First of all, I want to thank Marino and his coaching staff for the time they spent at Shakhtar. We are sincerely grateful to him for his contribution to the development of the team.
Not only did Pushych take third place. We all took third place. We are all responsible for the result — in both victories and defeats. This season has been challenging. After 2022, we lost a significant portion of key players and essentially started building a new team from scratch. This process is still ongoing. Could we have performed better? I believe so. But there were many factors that hindered this.
After a thorough analysis, we concluded that in the current conditions, the emotional and psychological burden is extraordinarily high. On one hand, the pressure for results; on the other, the restructuring of the team, constant changes, martial law. What Ukrainians have somewhat gotten used to is a serious challenge for a foreign specialist. Therefore, we decided that it would be right to put a stop to this now,” quotes Palkin the official website of Shakhtar.
