Josep Guardiola on summer transfers: “We don’t need a major overhaul”

The head coach of Manchester City, Josep Guardiola, assured that his team does not intend to make a large number of transfers in the summer transfer window.

Josep Guardiola

— I do not have the feeling that we need a major overhaul. I’m sorry. Perhaps the club sees it somewhat differently. We shall see.

I have 24 players at my disposal. I looked at them yesterday and it crossed my mind: “God, how wonderful they are.” So I don’t have the feeling that there will be many transfers. We will certainly sign players for those positions that are quite vulnerable.

I remember the first season when I came. We made it to the Champions League without winning any trophy. Unlike this season, we won the match for the Community Shield. Back then, 9, 10, or 11 players were ending their contracts. We did not expect them to be renewed, except for Yaya Toure. We did not renew others. That’s when changes were relevant. But today we have 23 players under contract. It’s not that simple. So I do not have the feeling that we will acquire many new people. But let’s see,’ said Josep Guardiola.
