Donetsk “Shakhtar” has appointed a new head coach. What has been much discussed in recent days has happened. The “miners” are now led by former coach of “Eyupspor” Arda Turan. Former Shakhtar forward Andrii Vorobey shared his opinion on the appointment of the Turkish specialist.
“Considering that there has been much talk about Arda Turan’s appointment lately, this has not, so to speak, become a sensation. However, I am confident that “Shakhtar” never appoints a coach without thoroughly studying him first. Probably, these contacts began even before Taras Stepanenko left for “Eyupspor”.
However, to be honest, I was surprised when Turan first began to appear in the press among the candidates for the head coach position of the Donetsk team, as he is a young coach who has not yet achieved any significant success in his coaching career.
It remains a mystery what “Shakhtar” will show under this specialist. It’s one thing to work in “Eyupspor”, and quite another to work in “Shakhtar”. After all, we need to consider both the current specifics of our championship and the fact that the “miners” have been performing outside their home grounds for a long time.
I think that at the training camps, the first impressions of Turan’s work will begin to take shape, and more specifically, we can talk about it at least after several rounds of the new championship. Especially since, perhaps, the start of “Shakhtar” in the Europa League is not far off.
We can only hope that this Turkish coach will manage to uplift the team, add character to it, which was not seen in the “miners” last season,” said Vorobey.
