“Previously, there was no opportunity to express this, as only in the last few hours have I truly decided to put an end to this wonderful nine-year story. But let’s not talk about farewells. I don’t like that. I am concluding my experience in Bergamo as the coach of Atalanta; everything else remains unchanged.

With the club, we have undoubtedly achieved extraordinary results. I would have liked to do more; I didn’t succeed, but we still shared many joyful moments together, and I am confident that you will do it again.

Why, you may ask, am I leaving Atalanta? Because of the need for new challenges, due to the trust placed in me, and due to the renewed enthusiasm that comes from this. A difficult challenge? Very much so. But we are talking about a great challenge, exciting, which gives me a lot of adrenaline. We will see each other again in Piazza Pontida, I promise!”— reads Gasperini’s statement published on Gianluca Di Marzio’s website.

Additionally, Gasperini will be working as the head coach of Roma. His contract with the Romans is for three years.
