Defender of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Martyniuk shared his impressions of the first days in Canada and talked about his expectations for the Canadian Shield tournament.
“I have not yet adapted to the team, but I communicate with the guys every day, getting to know them. I have played with some, and against others. We are adapting to each other, as we need to have a good collective.
When the national team call came, I was very happy to have the opportunity to test myself at such a level. Everyone congratulated me, called, and I received texts every minute.
As for the flight to Canada, I took my debut call with such joy that I don’t care about any distances or the duration of the flight. I closed my eyes to everything. The main thing is to train and play for the national team.
I had a small individual conversation with Serhii Rebrov. He approached, congratulated me, and said: “Well done, you deserved the call, and we will see how you show yourself, so that this call is not the last,” said Martyniuk.
