The head coach of the Spanish national team Luis de la Fuente commented on his team’s victory in the semifinal match of the Nations League against the French national team.
“I am very happy. I must admit, suffering brings me joy. I do not understand sport without an element of suffering. When two great teams meet, as it was today, it is natural that both opponents squeeze the maximum out of their moments. We must learn from every match and evaluate the game in a positive light.
I was happy to observe what was happening at the edge of the field. I truly enjoyed the spectacle. I was especially pleased with the actions of my players, their attitude to the matter.
It was an amazing match. I enjoyed it to the fullest, as every true football fan does. I was pleased to see that in many episodes my team outperformed the French national team. We capitalized on our moments and led 5:1 against such a strong team.
