The well-known British portal GiveMeSport specializes in creating such rankings. The day before, it published a list of the best players in Champions League history.
It included 35 footballers. What is pleasant is that a place among them was found for the legend of Ukrainian football Andriy Shevchenko. The current head of the UAF is in 25th place.
The publication noted his achievements in the Champions League. Shevchenko is still among the top ten goal scorers of all time in the competition. He won the tournament with “Milan” in 2003, scoring the winning penalty against “Juventus” at “Old Trafford,” but the competition also brought him some very unpleasant moments— that is why he does not rank higher on the list.
It should be noted that Shevchenko outperformed several legends of world football in this ranking. Below him, among others, were: Ryan Giggs, Thierry Henry, and Gianluigi Buffon.
The leader of the list was Cristiano Ronaldo, who is the Champions League record holder for the number of goals scored (140) and a five-time tournament winner. Also in the top three were Lionel Messi and Luka Modric.
