The Ukrainian national team started this match very actively, immediately took the lead and in the 15th minute of the meeting nearly opened the scoring: Pikhalyonok crossed from the left, Hutsulyak won the aerial duel in the penalty area, headed the ball past Krokombu, but he managed to respond to this incredibly difficult shot for him.
The Ukrainians continued to attack, played aggressively, but lacked actual sharpness towards the New Zealand goal. The next scoring chance arose in the 31st minute of the match when Krokomb deflected the ball straight to Kabayev, who took an impressive shot on the volley from the edge of the penalty area, but shot just over the crossbar. Later, Nazarina hit a decent shot from the edge of the penalty area, but directed the ball straight into the hands of the goalkeeper. And the Ukrainian team could not achieve more in the first half. So the teams went to the break with zeros on the scoreboard.
It should be added that the next match for the Ukrainian team will be official: on September 5, the "blue and yellow" will play against the national team of France in the opening round of the qualifying cycle for the 2026 World Cup.
