Former head coach of Cherkasy LNZ Oleg Dulub shared his impressions of the friendly match Ukraine — New Zealand (2:1).
"The assessment is ambiguous. The positive is that we won. But there is a certain lack of clarity. In my opinion, it would be optimal if the national team played nominally as the first team against Canada, the second team — now against New Zealand, and then another third friendly match. To combine the first and second teams that would have shown themselves well.
Who impressed the most with their game among the so-called "second team" members? Definitely Hutsulyak. Tymchyk and Zabarniy are not considered, of course, they are already the main players. Zubkov also impressed, as did Pykhalenok. Keeping in mind that there are first team players who are objectively stronger in individual skill.
As for the goal conceded from a set piece, it seems to already be the 9th such conceded goal recently. This is primarily due to systemic errors. You need to be inside to understand how much time is devoted to these set pieces. If there is a problem, then you need to devote more time.
In the organization of set pieces, there are three defensive play options. There’s nothing new here: either man-to-man, or zonal, or a combined system. The choice depends on the qualities of the players available," said Dulub.
