The former forward of Kyiv’s Dynamo, Victor Leonenko shared his thoughts on the new coach of “Shakhtar” — Arda Turan, who after his appointment mentioned the Kyiv club.

“For me, this is a strange statement. The head coach should talk about his team — so that ‘Shakhtar’ becomes stronger and shows class. With such statements, Turan has turned ‘Dynamo’ fans against him, as well as neutral fans. I think there are already fewer ‘Shakhtar’ fans. Imagine how happy Dynamo fans will be if the ‘miners’ again take second or third place.
I don’t like that the whole coaching staff of ‘Shakhtar’ consists of Turks. Where are the Ukrainians to learn from? Now the team can confidently be called ‘Shakhtarsport’. We will see what Turan will do. But I believe that the coaching staff should include Ukrainians. However, why be surprised if even in the youth team the coach is a foreigner. This probably doesn’t happen in any other country in the world.
Physical training coach Alemderoglu? Probably, he will be running the team. I’m afraid the Brazilians might run away. I would, for example, have already said: ‘Thank you, I’m out.’ When your legs are ‘sore,’ it’s not really pleasant to play, especially for fast players,” Leonenko summed up.
