Former England national team coach Gareth Southgate is currently unemployed after being dismissed last summer.
Southgate offered his candidacy to the Polish national team, but was declined. This was later confirmed by the President of the Polish Football Association, Cezary Kulesza.
“We received an offer to hire Southgate, but we must remember one simple thing: no foreign coach guarantees us qualification for the World Cup. If he could guarantee us that, I would hire him immediately. A perfect example is Fernando Santos. A successful coach, a well-known name, everyone applauded. But in reality, everything turned out unexpectedly and painfully for us...,” Kulesza said.
