Midfielder "Dynamo" Roman Salenko shared about the first training day after the break.
— Of course, it’s nice to finally gather. Some had a longer rest, some played for the national teams, so not everyone is back to work yet. It was also nice to take the first steps on the pitch — I missed this. Many players are returning from loans, you understand that there will be even more competition, so additional vigor appears.
— Did you hold the ball in your hands during the break, or did you completely rest from football?
— I was with the U-20 national team, which is preparing for the World Cup, we played friendly matches, so I had some contact with the ball (smiles). After returning home, I didn’t touch the ball anymore — I only maintained my physical condition.
— Is it felt that not all players have returned from vacation and the team is not yet fully gathered?
— Perhaps, but still we have a large squad. Probably, not everyone will stay in the team, someone will have to go on loan, we are currently working with this lineup.
— You are no longer eligible for the youth team by age and are heading to training camps with the first team. Now you will need to work as an adult?
— Of course, and now everything will depend on me — whether I will be a player who helps the team or if they will not count on me. I will do everything I can to stay in the first team of Dynamo.
— Overall, did you manage to rest during the vacation?
— To be honest, I wanted to rest for another day or two. But when I stepped on the field for training, everything was forgotten. On the contrary, I felt so good because for me, football is not just a job, but something I want to engage in and enjoy. That’s why I even did the running work with a good mood, so I can say that I am getting into the working rhythm from the first training.
— It’s noticeable that you have changed your image. What inspired you to change your hairstyle?
— You could say I got tired. Long hair requires care, and now it’s summer, so I decided to make a change. I like to try something new.
