The organizing specialist of the Donetsk Shakhtar, Liubov Khomenko, explained the choice of her club regarding the venues for home European Cup matches next season.
Recall that recently it became officially known that their first home match of the upcoming European season (July 10, against Finnish Ilves in the 1st qualifying round of the Europa League) will be held by the miners in Slovenia’s capital, Ljubljana, at the Stozice stadium. At the same time, there was information that the Donetsk club agreed to rent the city stadium in Krakow named after Henryk Reyman.
“In the 2025/26 season, we decided to hold the first European Cup match in Ljubljana. This decision is primarily sports-related: excellent conditions, convenient logistics for the team, minimal flights, the opportunity to focus on preparations and show the best result.
All subsequent European Cup matches this season are scheduled to be in Krakow. This decision was made considering several important factors. Krakow is the second largest city in Poland, a powerful transport, cultural, and tourist center. This ensures convenient logistics for both the team and the fans and club partners,” Khomenko’s words were quoted by UA-Football.
