The sporting director of Donetsk Shakhtar, Dario Srna, stated that FIFA has done nothing for Ukrainian clubs since the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine began.
“UEFA has done a lot. Ceferin, in particular, has shown that he loves to help in difficult situations. On the other hand, FIFA has done nothing, absolutely nothing. They were supposed to protect Ukrainian clubs and players through the law, but they did not do this.
We are still paying money for players that we bought before the war, at a high transfer price. They left Shakhtar, taking advantage of a special permit from FIFA related to the war, and their contracts were not frozen. Under these circumstances, we lost Tete, Solomon... They had one or two years left on their contracts, and after that, they became free agents.
It is not easy to work during the war; you lose a lot of energy, but we want to rebuild a strong Shakhtar again, and we are close to this. We have a team with incredible potential, and we are very confident in Turan,” said Srna in a comment to Marca.
