Guardiola begins global clear-out at Man City

Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola has reacted to Jurgen Klopp’s words, who criticized FIFA for changing the format of the Club World Cup: he emphasized that in modern football players practically do not rest due to the intense schedule.

Josep Guardiola

- Listen, I have faced Jurgen many times. I understand why he has such ideas. We have met many times in the EPL, and when we attended conferences organized by UEFA, we discussed a lot about the EPL calendar and its possible changes. We talked about how to give players and coaches more rest to improve the quality of the game. So his comments don’t particularly surprise me.

I understand Jurgen. I respect him. I have had an incredible relationship with Jurgen throughout our coaching duels. Now Jurgen is not coaching, and I understand his argument because in his position I would have said similar words.

At the same time, we continue to do our job. We adhere to the rules of FIFA, UEFA, and the EPL. It is not us, the coaches, who organize the competitions.

We are proud to have made it to the Club World Cup. Many teams complain about these competitions because they are not here. They would be happy if they made it here, - said Josep Guardiola.
