July 17 - the day of the first home match of Dynamo

July 17 is a significant day in the history of the Dynamo club. This date marks the starting point in the history of matches played by the "white-blues" in Kyiv.

In the distant year of 1928, Kyiv’s Dynamo played its first matches. On July 1, the future dominant force in Soviet and Ukrainian football lost away to the team from Bila Tserkva 1:2, and on July 17 of the same year, the Kyiv team hosted their colleagues from Odesa at the "Red Stadium" (now it is NSK "Olimpiysky", the name "Red Stadium" was used from 1924 to 1935).

The guest team was considered stronger, mainly featuring several players from the Ukrainian SSR national team. The match was quite tense, with many fouls and even scuffles. The Kyiv team was trailing during the game, then led, but ultimately it ended in a draw 2:2.

In several historical sources, this match is referred to as the first officially recorded match of Dynamo, although it is known for certain that a friendly match had preceded this game in Bila Tserkva.

The lineup of Dynamo (Kyiv) in the first home match: Idzkowski, Ivanov, Stanko, Piroketi, Bardadym, Sylvestrov, Vasylychikov, Murashov, Halburtt, M. Reyngold, Philin.

Five days later, Dynamo achieved its first victory in history by defeating the city team "Radtorhsluzhbovtsi" 8:1 in a friendly match.
