Benfica announced on its official website the signing of midfielder Richard Rios from Palmeiras.
The Colombian player was also sought after by Roma, but the Romans could not agree on the financial side of the deal. The Lisbon club paid 27 million euros for the transfer of the 25-year-old player.
Rios' contract with Benfica will be valid until June 30, 2030.
