Bologna winger Federico Bernardeschi spoke about his experience playing in MLS with Toronto. The 31-year-old Italian believes that returning to his home league will give him the chance to compete in the 2026 World Cup.
“I thank the club, the directors, and my agent, who gave me the opportunity to return to Italy, to a club that is becoming increasingly important. I am very proud to be part of this team, and they welcomed me very warmly.
I really missed Serie A, but I also made the decision to come back again. It was an experience I will not regret, for both myself and my family. Physically, there is no difference between MLS and Serie A, but there is definitely a difference on the technical and tactical level. Honestly, it is hard to find a league tactically stronger than Serie A in all of Europe. For me, MLS and Serie A are like comparing Euroleague basketball competitions to the NBA.
I won the Euros, but I have never played in a World Cup. I want to do everything possible to get there,” Bernardeschi is quoted by the Bologna press service.
