The head coach of "Epicenter", Serhiy Nahornyak, responded to questions about the support of Ternopil fans during the match of the 1st round of the UPL against Shakhtar (0:1).
"The support was indeed good. There hasn’t been top football in Ternopil for a long time, so that is understandable. The only thing I didn’t quite like was that fans started to run onto the field. I understand they ran to the players, but if something like this happens again, there will be no more football in Ternopil for one simple reason: the stadium will be disqualified.
Even I intervened a bit, because I see that a person is somewhat, excuse me, inadequate—probably a little drunk. I understand the young boys: a team with players from the Ukrainian national team, whom they saw on TV at Euro, for whom they cheer in European competitions, doesn’t come every day. These are all emotions, but there is a downside to this.
As for the support—good job. Many fans came from Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, and Lviv. I think the next home game will be just as interesting and tense, as we will be playing against Dynamo. This will be another lesson for us. We enjoy playing in Ternopil, but I will be honest: we want to play at home, in Kamianets-Podilskyi,” Nahornyak is quoted by Tribuna.com.
