The Board of Directors of the Luxembourg Football Federation has suspended former Kyiv Dynamo forward Gerson Rodriguez from matches for the Luxembourg national team indefinitely.
This decision follows the 30-year-old footballer receiving a final sentence of 18 months of conditional imprisonment (for assaulting his girlfriend and also breaking a man’s facial bones near a nightclub in Luxembourg) earlier this spring.
In June, Rodriguez was called up to the Luxembourg national team for friendly matches in June against Slovenia and Ireland, participated in them, and this led to a scandal in Luxembourg society. Under pressure, the Luxembourg Football Federation established an independent ethics commission, the result of which was the verdict to suspend the forward.
Let’s recall that Rodriguez’s contract with Dynamo expired on June 30 of this year. Recently, the footballer joined the club Kanchanaburi Power from Thailand as a free agent.
