The head coach of Kyiv’s "Dynamo" Oleksandr Shovkovskyi commented on the confident victory of the "white-blues" over "Rukh" in the match of the 2nd round of the Ukrainian championship on UPL.TV.
— Mr. Oleksandr, what are your impressions of this very high-scoring match?
— We understood that it would not be an easy game. We had only a few days to recover after the first match against "Paphos", followed by a five-hour transfer from Lublin to Lviv. Therefore, we wanted to give the guys a chance to recover and let those who get less playing time have a chance to play.
I am satisfied with their attitude and actions on the field. I am very happy for Yatsyk, Bragari, Bilovar, Karavaev. They played a wonderful game, but it is disappointing that we conceded such a goal in the final minutes. We could have handled that episode more calmly.
But I’ll repeat, we are satisfied with the quality of play and the attitude of the players. Undoubtedly, we really needed these positive emotions before the second match with "Paphos".
— You reacted very emotionally to that goal by "Rukh" in the 88th minute...
— I want the players to always be perfect and flawless in everything. We need to dream about this and go hard for it. Then they will get the most out of life and from the game. If you lack ambition, you will not play. You cannot play football if you lack passion. Today, I see that passion. I hope that this zeal will be multiplied in the next match against "Paphos".
— Are Mykhailenko and Mykhavko now indispensable players for "Dynamo"?
— We do not have indispensable players. But today’s situation forced us to set them back into the starting lineup.
— How do you assess the performance of Gerro?
— Unfortunately, he could not score, but he worked a lot for the team. And that’s the main thing. He will have other opportunities, and he will score, I am convinced.
— What do you say about Yatsyk’s game, who started in the starting lineup for the first time?
— I rely on all the players we have. No player is guaranteed a place in the starting lineup. Everyone has to prepare, we have a very busy schedule. They must be professionals and be ready.
— Who will definitely play against "Paphos" from those players who played today?
— We will do recovery, see who is in what condition, and then we will make decisions.
